Challenging the APA

UPDATE: The APA has clarified its text mistake. Pedophilia has not been classified as a sexual orientation, but the AFA report was not fabricated or fear-mongering. Click here for the resolution to this issue.

According to the American Family Association, a shocking announcement made by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in its latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders caused an uproar among pro-family organizations and many others, as the APA states it now classifies pedophilia as a sexual orientation or preference instead of a disorder.
Sandy Rios, cultural expert and talk show host on the American Family Radio network, has issued a statement on behalf of the American Family Association in response to the APA's position on pedophilia:
"Just as the APA declared homosexuality an 'orientation' under tremendous pressure from homosexual activists in the mid-'70s, now, under pressure from pedophile activists, they have declared the desire for sex with children an 'orientation,' too. It's not hard to see where this will lead. More children will become sexual prey.
"Sanity will never return to this culture until truth is reclaimed. It is not now, nor has it ever been acceptable for men or women to desire sex with children. Any who struggle with this must at least know that it is wrong before they can combat it and seek change."

“APA stands firmly behind efforts to criminally prosecute those who sexually abuse and exploit children and adolescents. We also support continued efforts to develop treatments for those with pedophilic disorder with the goal of preventing future acts of abuse.”
My main issue with this statement other than what the APA was originally considering calling childhood rape a sexual preference, is the idea of "treating" pedophilia disorder.

Childhood Sexual Abuse is evil not a disorder it is a staple of satanic ritual and cannot be "treated." Predators will manipulate and fool therapist, families and children (the easiest of all to fool)  every time and continue to sexually rape children.

I don't want to go on too much about this because I don't care about perpetrators, they have already been given too much focus.  In fact the ontological prescriptive of our society is one the protects, helps and promotes Childhood Sexual Abuse by seeing perpetrators as somehow disordered rather than evil. The very language we use to desscribe it childhood rape is skewed in favor of  the perpetrator. . From the child's perspective it is not Childhood Sexual Abuse , because there is nothing "sexual" about it for a child.

Childhood Sexual abuse is adults imposing their wills and their bodies on children without their consent it is a violation of the child's very self. It is thus by definition, a child is incapable of engaging in consensual sexual activity by the nature of childhood. Children have not reached a level  of maturity which would allow them to give an informed consent, thus perpetrators are not sick, but evil.

Perpetrators use their bodies to assault and batter a child  just as oif these bodes wee deadly weapons, because that is what they are from the child's perspective deadly weapons that they do not comprehend. .

My advice to the APA and the advice of a sane society that protects it's children is to not even be concerned with or think about "treating" perpetrators. It is a waste of time and intellectual power that could more effectively used to come up with assessments and treatments that heal the survivor.

As for perpetrators,  lock them up and let them reap inmate justice.

Focus on helping and treating the survivor, trying to understand abusers obfuscates and leads to untenable destructive and unproductive lines of thinking about what CSA is and how to help the survivor -- helping the survivor should be the only focus of the APA.
Additionally, as Judith Herman MD points out in her Book Trauma and Recovery, and as Freud discovered virtually the only reason people seek therapy is due to trauma, and the vast majority of those who seek help are trauma survivors due to childhood sexual abuse.

We are a nation, a society and a world that supports the rape, abuse, assault, and the and saddling our survivors with undeserved consequences from childhood rape. We are a nation that supports the sanctity of the family in order to protect abusers from what goes on between closed doors. As a society and this includes the APA,  our entire perceptive entire is one that supports traumatic abuse of children, and then makes light of it or turns stories of abuse into comedy routines for stand up comedians.

Ultimately we are a nation that sees the assault and abuse of children as a joke. This is the stark reality of who we are as a people and a nation.

And it must change. There is no sanctity of the family there is only societies willingness or unwillingness to do what is necessary to protect our children and allow them to become fully formed and whole adults.

The APA has proven itself to be without understanding of the psychology of the issue, they have failed to focus on determining an adequate assessment that points clearly to the cause -- Childhood Sexual abuse, and they continue to want to "treat" the perpetrator not the survivor, they engage in and support the victim blaming that is rampant in our society today, and this must change.

The APA supports childhood rape.
